Wood-Fired Shino Mug — Studio Series
These wood-fired mugs are made to be used every day—solid in the hand, balanced in weight, and shaped for comfort. Each one is thrown or altered by hand and finished with a pulled handle that feels natural and secure.
Surface variation comes from both intention and chance. Ash, flame, and movement in the wood kiln create a dynamic Natural surface. This work was glazed with a red shino and shows off the spotting often seen in this glaze.
Fired to cone 10 in a wood kiln, each mug carries the marks of its firing: slight variation in color, depth, and surface that can’t be duplicated. These differences are part of the process and what make each mug one of a kind.
Comfortable, durable, and meant for daily use, this mug is equally at home with a morning coffee or an evening drink.
